August is Breastfeeding Awareness Month!

While breastfeeding may not seem the right choice for every parent, it is the best choice for every baby. ~Amy Spangler

Breastfeeding is one of the most beneficial things you can give to your Baby. Besides the nutritional benefit of Breastfeeding; the bond you feel when your baby is skin to skin with you is priceless. The feeling of knowing your baby needs something that only you as his/ her Mother can fulfill is amazing. Breastfeeding is initially much more complicated in the first few weeks and it would be so much easier to just pick up a bottle to meet your little ones needs or make a bottle and pass baby to Dad; but the long term benefits of Breastfeeding are so worth it. Yes your breasts won't look how they used to pre pregnancy/baby but looking down seeing your child at your breast just gazing up at you in total fulfillment physically and emotionally is one of the most empowering things a Woman will experience. Embrace the amazing bodies God gave us to bear Children as well as provide for them with.

The Surgeon General has brought attention and renewed energy in efforts to support mothers to reach their personal breastfeeding goals. Surgeon General Regina Benjamin has called on the entire nation to take 20 concrete action steps to support the removal of barriers to breastfeeding. The "20 Actions in 20 Days" campaign will highlight these action steps and implementation strategies for six major sectors of society:

Mothers and their Families
Communities
Health Care
Employment
Research and Surveillance
Public Health Infrastructure

Cheers to a Breastfeeding Nation!
BREAST MILK IS THE BEST MILK!
